The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level Farm
Science Center established by the Indian Council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Shramabharati Khadigram, district
Jamui, for rapid transfer of technology to the farmers fields.
The operational area of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra is Jamui which
comes under the south-eastern plateau region. The aim of the
Krishi Vigyan Kendra is technology assessment and refinement
through demonstration of technology products and dissemination
through training of farmers and extension personnel. In order to
achieve this goal, four mandates have been envisaged in the
design of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shramabharati Khadigram has collaborated with International, national, state and local level organizations to improve the agro-level of formers and agriculture.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jamui performs its activities in the light of
K.V.K. mandate. During April, 2006 to March, 2007, 12 months of
working 149 training courses were conducted. We have conducted 108
training courses for practicing farmers covering 1872 beneficiaries,
22 training courses for rural youths covering 294 beneficiaries, 19
training courses for extension functionaries covering 443
beneficiaries. 03 training courses has sponsored by District
Agriculture Department, Jamui, covering 59 beneficiaries. Under FLD
programme 56 training courses for 302 practicing farmers were
conducted.
During October, 2007 to September, 2008, 12 months of working 75 training courses were conducted for 1807 benififiaries. KVK have conducted 58 training courses for practicing farmers covering 1414 beneficiaries, 10 training courses for rural youths covering 207 beneficiaries, 07 training courses for extension functionaries covering 186 beneficiaries. KVK have conducted 07 On Farm Trial/Testing (OFT) on different aspects of agricultural technology and received good result from OFT. KVK have also conducted 01 training courses sponsored by different institutions covering 50 beneficiaries. Under FLD programme 15 training courses for 315 farmers were trained in latest techniques and technology. For Front Line Demonstration, KVK have adopted 44 farming families for Sesame, 31 farming families for mustard, 31 farming families for red gram, 34 farming families for gram, 32 farming families for lentil, 33 farming families for green gram, 10 farming families for Maize and 10 farming families for wheat, during the year 2007-'08, covering an area of 15 ha., 15 ha., 05 ha., 15 ha., 15 ha.,15 ha., 2.5 ha. and 10 ha. respectively. The detail results of FLD have been incorporated in the annual report. So far as our extension activities are concerned, KVK has organized 02 Kisan gosthi (103 participants), 03 Kisan mela (9,500 participants), 03 field days (126 participants) and agriculture exhibition 01 (234 participants) in his operational area. Under diagnostic services KVK scientist visited several times to farmer's field and 511 farmers were benefited. 444 farmers have visited to KVK with their problems and were benefited through technical advice. Under Resource Conservation Technology KVK has propagated zero tillage techniques on cereals, oilseeds, pulses and other crops covering near about 1500 acres area in the district Jamui and adjacent district with the help of CYMMYT-INDIA. Regarding other extension activities 05 radio talks were performed by KVK scientist and our activities were covered by many news paper also. KVK has also distributed large quantity of improved rice, wheat, arhar, gram, lentil, mustard, linseed and other seeds among farmers on payment basis. Thousand of horticultural plants, have sold to farmers of Jamui district and nearby district also.
