This 'Krishi Vigyan Kendra' (Farm Science Centre) was
established in January, 1995. During the last 11 years,
farmers of this district have derived a lot of benefit from the services it has rendered.
But India is an ancient country. It is one of the countries
of the world that developed agriculture as a science, but
throughout its long history Indian Agriculture has remained
the bedrock of India's total rural culture. We have a global
market now. Production for the market is a new science. That
science this centre has been supplying in the form of
improved seeds and other practices. But. a healthy synthesis
between India's ancient wisdom and modern science of
agriculture, revolving round Indian Economy, has yet to
evolve. It's a time-taking process. But that now is this centre's main objective. Eastern India in which is centre is
situated is rich in traditions of agricultural practices. So
the centre is now busy fulfilling the said purpose. It is
learning as well as teaching and training. We do hope the
combination of ancient wisdom and modern science will
produce a new pattern of Indian agriculture in due course.
In that attempt the present Programme Coordinator Dr. Raj
Narain SIngh and his team of 06 scientists, guided by the
Zonal Coordinator, Dr. A.K. Singh, are now engaged. I wish
them all success |
